Final Post : (

                This is the final post of our plants. Dues to this unstable and unpredictable weather, our plants are not growing fast enough to use in our BLT day.  However, it’s growing slowly, and we were thinking about taking it back home, and let it continue its grow until the day we can use it in our food. We will transfer our plants to a better environment, and provided them with more sun lights and space to grow. We believed our plants have its own potential to be a tasty vegetable.

            I only have one more week left in school. I feel like I have accomplished many important concepts, and study techniques in all my classes.  For example, I learned how to write better in my English class. I learned how to manage my time, and get to know more about study techniques in my general study class. I also learned how to be a better speaker, and how to speak effectively in my speech class. As a student, all of these classes have major impacts to my life. Now, I have more confidents and motivations to be successful in the future. On this post, I want to say thank you to all of my fellow classmates, and Noah for helping me to be successful in the class. Most importantly I want to thank all of my professors for guiding me in my academic school year.  Without you guys, I don’t think I can survive in this competitive society.

P.S To my fellow classmates, please stay positive, and don’t give up. We all can be very successful in the future, lets keep FIGHTING until we reach our academic goals…

Weitang Hu

Yet another week has passed and our plants are still a work in progress. Our plants continue to grow taller, stem thickening as the days pass by. Its leaves becoming more define, so much so, you are now able to see patterns on top of them. But, with our salad day just a couple of weeks away I am starting to feel doubtful that out plants will be mature enough for Wei and me to harvest any vegetables from them at all. Which would be a disappointment, but it is still a work in progress. Our plants will one day bare fruit, it may not be on June 13^th, the day of our salad day, and it may not be on June 30^th.  But one day it will.

One day I will graduate from college, one day I will walk across a stage, no matter where it may be, and I will receive my degree. Though right now it may just be a dream of mine, I know that one day all of the hard work that I am doing will pay off. Don’t get me wrong, there are those days where I am not so confident, days that I feel doubtful that my dream of achieving a degree will ever materialize. Those are the days that I have to remind myself that I (like our plants) am a work in progress and that one day the seeds of knowledge that were planted on April 2^nd 2012 will indeed one day bare fruit in the form of a college degree. And on that day, I am going to enjoy one of the largest salads the world has ever seen.

Week 8 Project BLT continue...

                I can’t believe week 8 past by so fast.  Thanks to the wonderful weather in Pullman, and through the process of photosynthesis, our plants are growing at its regular basis.  The stem of our plants are getting thicker, and stronger.  Also the leaves of our plant are getting bigger and greener.  However, there is only 3 weeks left of school.  I just hope that our plant will be ready for us to eat, when BLT day comes.

            This week was the busiest week I had so far, dues to tons of homework, Tammy’s community project, and moving out of our apartment.  I was a little worry about not finishing up my assignments on time.  However, I applied what I have learned about time management in Genst 114, and keep myself motivated and thinking positively.  I was able to finish everything on time.  Growing as a student, I think that I had learned many new materials every week.  This week I learned about our community in Genst 114.  In English 99 I learned about how to use citations correctly in a research paper.  So overall, my brain absorbed all the materials, and ready for other challenges next week.

Week 7 Project BLT

Continued Growth



This has been a great week for our plants, with all of the sunshine and great weather we have had here in Pullman our plants have been able to flourish. Its roots seem to be digging itself deeper and deeper anchoring themselves in to soil rich with nutrients. Every week the stem grows stronger, you can see that as the weeks pass the stem seems to grow thicker preparing to bare the load of its fruits that it will carry some day (hopefully soon because there really isn’t that much time left in  the semester). The leaves of our plants have become more prominent, stretching out to touch the sky, like tiny hands reaching to catch every last bit of nutrients from the sun.

This week has also been a great week for me as well. I too feel like my roots have finally begun to dig deeper in to my education. By speaking with my advisor I have found myself a major and I have found what it is exactly that I am striving for in college. I have found my light at the end of the tunnel. Though the light at the end of my metaphoric tunnel is now just a tiny speck, it gives me something to work for instead of feeling like I’m just here to be here I now have a goal to shoot for. With my new major in mind, I plan to use the knowledge that I obtain from all of my college courses to become an outreach counselor for troubled urban youth and to help them to not only find their goals, but to help them achieve them.

In this kind of unpredictable weather, our plants aren’t growing as fast as it supposes to be.  However, the plants are still standing strong.  Every time when I look at the plants, it reminded me of my two daughters.  Time passed by just like a blink of the eye, they are both grown so fast, and that makes me sad, because I still remember the day that they were babies.  But I guess this is life, everything will grow as long as there are proper love and cares.  Just like our plant, if we spent a good amount of time taking care of it, it will eventually grow till BLT day.

Just like how the plants are growing, my knowledge also grows every single day.  This week we learned about how to approach our essay 2 with proper research methods.  I feel like I gained much useful knowledge by coming to class.  I’m also very thankful for everything god is been given me.  My wife graduated with her Masters in Counseling Psychology this past week, and she also got accepted to WSU’s Higher Ed PhD program.  I’m very proud of her, and my kids and I will fight with her in the road of achieving higher educations.

 

 Day One

This was the day we planted our vegetables for our salad day on June 13th 2012. Here we have my teammate Wei and myself, with the additional help of a couple of classmates. Planting seeds that will eventually become lettuce, tomatoes, and peppers. It is going to take a lot of time, attention, and care for it to flourish in to something that we will be able to eat in the next couple of months. The same can be said about a college education or any aspect of life. When you manage your time wisely and give everything in life, whether its school or work, the attention and care it needs. The only outcome will be your success. But it all has to start some where, by taking initiative, by planting your seed.
